What are golden numbers and what is the point of them?

i mean seriously why do you need to use themWhat are golden numbers and what is the point of them?
You`ll need them if you are a Creator and wish to design a new world or two.


They come in really useful in getting the proportions of things like sunflowers and sea shells right, especially if you don`t have a good Computer Aided Design programme.What are golden numbers and what is the point of them?
Asking a question like ';What is the point of them'; is rather like others asking what is the point of you!


Numbers have a specific role to play in life. It depends on whether you come into contact with these systems as to whether you find any ';point in them';.


Golden Numbers relate to the 19 year Metonic Cycle.


Golden Ratio is a number associated with dimensions that seem to be aesthically perfect. e.g. height/width ratio of a piece of architecture.

To obtain Golden number of any year divide the year by 19. 1 added to the remainder gives the golden number of the year


For example Golden number of 2009 =


2009/19= 105 + Remainder 14


Hence golden number of 2009 = 14+1 =15


Full moon Appears on the same day after every 19 years.


This is also called Metonic Cycle. 19 year cycle consists of 235 Lunar months.
The golden number is a ratio. Draw a line with endpoints A and C. Now somewhere along that line is point B. The position of point B makes a curious property:





(BC) / (AB) = (AC) / (BC)





Remember, AC is AB + BC





AB = x


BC = y


AB + BC = AC = x + y





y / x = x / (x + y)


x^2 = xy + y^2


y^2 + xy - x^2 = 0





Solve for y with the quadratic formula:





a = 1


b = x


c = -x^2





(-x +/- sqrt(x^2 + 4x^2)) / 2


(-x +/- x * sqrt(5)) / 2





x * (-1 +/- sqrt(5)) / 2 = y


(-1 +/- sqrt(5)) / 2 = y/x





That's all it is mathematically.





The number is special because we do find numerous examples of it in nature, including the patterned arrangement of seeds in a sunflower, breeding populations (Fibonacci Sequence develops the golden ratio), the proportions of physical features in people (people who have features that are extremely close to the golden ratio are usually considered more attractive, which has lead researchers to believe that there is a subconscious part of us that desires that ratio), etc...





Some poeple will claim the nautilus shell or the spiral arms of galaxies are close to the golden ratio, but that is crap. Some examples have been found, but more often than not, it simply isn't the case.
You dont need to use anything as its only maths but nature uses golden numbers and ratios, so it is an important natural number and power.
