You need to study a little basic music theory and you will see what they mean. A G5 for example is a G chord with the fifth note of the G major scale added to it. The fifth note would be D so it's a G chord with a D note added on......You might say ,theres already a D note in the Major G chord , which is true, so you will add another D note to it to make it a G5..... Am7 is an Am chord with the seventh note of the Am scale added on , and so on and so on...........Remember , if your working with a major chord then you use the major scale and the minor scale for a minor chord. It's really pretty easy to understand once you know a little basic theory.

The chord G with an added 5th and A minor with an added 7th. It puts a slight dischord into the sound to make the notes more interesting. A lot of guitarists do this to change the overall mood of the song they're
playing
